Research and Scholarly Activities in Progress

I have established long-term research plots at several sites in west central Minnesota, and my students and I collect data at these sites every summer.   I am using these plots to monitor forest composition and tree growth, mortality and reproduction.  The areas of emphasis in my local research are:  1) the impact of invasive buckthorn (Rhamnus cathartica) on forest composition, 2) the response of local trees to climate change, 3)the extent and impacts of invasive earthworms in regional forests, and 4) the impact of deer herbivory on tree recruitment.
