Admission requirements for medical school

As you probably are already aware, admission into medical school is extremely competitive. At the University of Minnesota Twin Cities medical school last year, the average applicant generally has an overall GPA of 3.5, and only one out of ten of these people were accepted! Premed students must take a number of very challenging, time-consuming science and math courses, and must get top grades. They also must take a very comprehensive and important standardized test called the MCAT. Obviously, you must be an excellent student and have outstanding study habits to be a competitive medical school applicant.

You also must get a significant amount of experience in some medically-related experiences outside of the classroom - this is a requirement for most medical schools.

Below are links to more detailed information about the academic and non-academic requirements for admission to medical school, as well as some information about admissions statistics.
