Week 7 Journal Topic

Read the Wikipedia entry on the History of Logarithms and Tables of Logarithms.

The idea of using a look-up table is similar to what was done by the Egyptians to find the lengths of sides that produced a certain area (see Journal 5 on quadratic formula). What do you think of tabulating the logarithms of the integers between 1 and 20,000 to fourteen decimal places? Bet you are glad we do not need the tables today!
