Mission Statement:      The threefold purpose of the UMM Student DFL is to involve all people in the political process, assist Democratic candidates running for election, and increase the public's awareness and knowledge of the Democratic platform and the issues that it addresses.

UMM remembers the late Senator Paul Wellstone. Senator Wellstone passed away in a plane crash with his wife Sheila, daughter Marcia Markuson, and three aides (Tom Lapic, Mary McEvoy, and Will McLaughlin) on Friday, October 25, 2002. Senator Wellstone was an inspiration to not only to the students and faculty of UMM but to the people of the state and country. He will be greatly missed.
