CNIA's Purpose and Objectives at UMM-Morris

CNIA has been designed to promote American Indian participation on all levels of campus life, including decisions regarding the education, financial aid, and cultural opportunities offered to Native American students. As an organization, we also hope to inform the campus and community of the American Indian culture and to counter all misrepresentation of American Indians and their cultures.

GOALS

1. To promote American Indian participation in policymaking decisions regarding education, financial aid, and cultural and retention programs.

2. To encourage and assist American Indian students to strive for high academic achievement.

3. To promote cooperation and understanding between Indian and non-Indian students.

4. To counter all misrepresentations of American Indian culture and traditions.

5. To assist American Indian students in developing educational, cultural, and financial skills.

6. To encourage the perpetuation of American Indian heritage in all its individual tribal customs and traditions.

7. To develop programs and policies that may be deemed necessary for carrying out the aforementioned goals and policies.
