I have established long-term research plots at several sites in west central Minnesota , and my students and I collect data at these sites every summer. I am using these plots to monitor forest composition and tree growth, mortality and reproduction. The areas of emphasis in my local research are: 1) the impact of invasive buckthorn ( Rhamnus cathartica ) on forest composition and 2) the response of local trees to climate change.
